To Heidelblog and Katelynn Richardson for the part of Richardson's article on the imposition of a large fine on a church that refused to follow mask mandates during the pandemic which was cited in a Heidelblog post.
Katelynn Richardson's full article can be found at:
In an age of the conservative call to demand accountability, it seems that the call applies to others only. In the midst of a pandemic when medical scientists are doing their best to limit the spread of a contagious disease that was pretty much new to them, one would think that a religion that has the Golden Rule as one of its principles would be eager to follow the Covid mask mandates. That is especially true when research showed that the success of wearing masks in curbing the spread of the disease depended on how many people cooperated. And then one must consider the one judge's comments about how wearing masks does not interfere with the act of worship.
And until any church can disprove that judge's claim, the refusal to wear masks during worship could only be seen as a political protest rather than an exercise religious freedom.
