This Month's Scripture Verse:

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
2 Timothy 3:1-5

Comments Which Conservatives Block From Their Blogs For Jan 29, 2014

This is a new category of posts. It is dedicated to those conservative blogs that have blocked my comments for various reasons. The blogpost of blocked comments will appear every Wednesday when the blog is not taking a break.

To Joe Carter's blogpost on the Acton blog asking why the state of the union is always strong.

The simple answer to the question is that we, meaning the country and those in power, must be praised.

To Joe Carter's blogpost on the Acton blog claiming that the war on poverty has been won

I wonder if the actual victims of poverty were consulted before this post was written. This is the predominant theme when I read or listen to conservatives as they write about poverty. For it seems that they write this or that about poverty without consulting those living in it.

To Joseph Sunde's blogpost on the Acton blog on Bonhoeffer's definition of Christian Freedom

What bothers me with this post is such a definition of liberty, which is made from a specific religious and moral context, can be used to justify one group dominating over another because it claims to be telling the other group how it ought to live. After all, the people Bonhoeffer was battling were doing just that.
